Society of St. Vincent de Paul - Helping the cry of the poor.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an International Catholic organization of lay persons whose purpose is to sanctify its members in the exercise of charity and help the poor in their corporal and spiritual needs.
We believe:- in the dignity of the human person
- in the identification of Jesus with the poor
- that our primary concern is charity and justice.
Our works include:
- serving those who so badly need help, including single mothers with children, the disabled and/or very sick, homeless and so many more
- financial assistance for rent, utility bills, food, gasoline and other items
- referring clients to additional organizations who can help them
- bringing spirituality to those we serve through our examples and our words … absolutely the most important thing we do!
About us:
- The St. Teresa of Avila Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was established in 2011.
- We assist people throughout all of Placer County.
- Our volunteers represent St. Teresa of Avila’s Catholic Community and coordinate assistance with St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Auburn.
- We are able to fulfill this ministry only through the generous donations of parishioners and the 5th Sunday collections for St. Vincent de Paul.
- We meet monthly on the 1st Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm in the Beatitude Room at St. Teresa.
Volunteers:
For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prision and you came to me. Matthewe 25:40.
- The Society of Society of St. Vincent de Paul continuously needs volunteers to help serve the poor.
- Ths ministry will not take much of your time, but will be greatly rewarding.
- You will connect with people during their most difficult periods.
- You will receive training, and learning comes quickly through experienced volunteers who are readily available to advise concerning any situation.
